These simple principles are the premise for Guests First, the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau's customer service training program. Developed for both hospitality and allied businesses, the program consists of non-traditional workshops for front-line and management personnel. The VCB collaborates with area chambers of commerce and tourism partners to sponsor workshops for industry professionals. Classes offer a special opportunity to improve customer service skills in a wide range of subjects, including working with international guests, interpreting body language, listening, handling conflicts, and more.

Over 2,300 graduates have completed Guests First training. Many have been nominated for or won the Elaine McLaughlin Outstanding Hospitality Service Awards (the "E" Awards), a program designed to recognize "above and beyond expectations" customer skills from hospitality employees. Nominations are submitted by visitors vacationing on the Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel.
